Sharon was recommended to euthanise my beloved 13year old dog when my dog was in danger of needing it. She was compassionate in her manner yet very professional and understanding, answering all my questions and not rushing me at all. I wouldn't hesitate to have her tend to my dog when needed. We took our beloved Nyla here as an emergency case on the bank holiday Monday. I explained that my dog had hip dysplasia, Arthritis and previous patella and cruciate TPLO repairs a few years ago and explained what happened when the problem with her leg started. (She got up, the leg gave way and went underneath her, a popping sound was heard and she hopped off yelping unable to walk) Her whole back end was collapsing she was in agony bless her. Took her into abivale and was charged over £330 just to be seen for 5 minutes (disgusting to charge this amount, clearly no love for the actual animal and all about the price. Yes it’s a bank holiday but retail staff don’t get paid extra for working them especially not tripling the price! Paying a quarter of someone’s monthly wage for 5mins and a misdiagnosis is extremely disappointing and wrong) The vet “examined” her on the table, he didn’t even try to extend her hips despite me saying she had hip dysplasia. Pretty basic first approach for any vet you’d think. And he didn’t want to xray her because of cost, however, what he quoted was the exact same cost as what my vet charged me the very next morning! And we didn’t care about that, we would have paid anything, we wanted to get her help so desperately. He just didn’t have the time or staff to do this and was brushing it off. He said he thinks that her leg implants were failing… wow was he wrong. He gave her “pain killers “ which wouldn’t have helped what she actually had and sent us away saying she could still toilet etc which she couldn’t! She and I went through hell all night because she couldn’t walk or go the toilet at all and I had to wait to ring my dogs orthopaedic vet as soon as I could in the morning and my vet said on the phone that the implants comment was a load of rubbish. He took one look at my dog when we got to my vets without even touching her and said she’s lifting the leg like she’s dislocated it. Xrayed her and her left hip was dislocated as I suspected. I’m furious that this vet didn’t help take away her pain and suffering all night. She was sadly put to sleep because of how bad her back end was and this vet at abivale didn’t have a clue. Overpriced, under staffed, under qualified for an emergency out of hours vet! Avoid at all costs as there is no genuine care here for your pet. Heartbroken what we had to put her through when we tried so hard to get her help so she wasn’t suffering throughout the night. 💔
