Bicester Vets describes itself as an independent, privately owned practice and offers a 24-hour emergency service. Reviews give multiple examples of urgent care being handled quickly (one owner reports being seen within 10 minutes after an accident, with their dog kept in for observation and collected later the same day) and ongoing support for complex/senior cases (including emergency appointments at night). Owners also mention practical end-of-life options, including a home-visit euthanasia arranged with a chosen vet, described as calm and family-centred. One recent review strongly disagrees on cost and clinical approach, alleging high prices, over-medication, and poor transparency around lab results.
Specific prices mentioned in a negative review
Other owners describe pricing as “reasonable” and mention “open pricing,” but without amounts.

Thank you Kyra for helping my family Smithers 🤍

A really fabulous team here. We have used them for years with several pets. We shall continue to do so. Having the service of a chosen vet to home visit for euthanasia was the best ever decision. In such heartbreaking circumstances it was made calmer and kinder surrounded by family and set in the garden. We felt heard and therefore everything was as thoughtful as possible. Highly recommend Bicester vets.

Amazing veterinary surgery. Very attentive vets and helpful staff on the front desk. Pet plans are great value.

Overpriced. Overmedicates. Does not listen to pet owners. Unfortunately my experience of Bicester Vets as a pet owner hasn't been good. My cat was registered with them for years. He developed a severe skin allergy to an unknown allergen in his environment. Think extreme skin eczema in his ears and under his chin. He was (at the time) drinking from a plastic water fountain which was supposed to encourage drinking. But for whatever reason my cat would overly scrape and scratch the plastic with his tongue. Bicester Vets ordered some full allergy panels at £620. Which all came back negative. They couldn't figure out what he was allergic to. I suggested "could it be plastic?" but this was almost laughed at as "not a thing". Except it is for my cat. Instead, Bicester Vets put my cat on long term steroids which (as well as costing £30 and requiring vet checkup every other month at £40 or so) also caused my cat diabetes. When I took my cat to Bicester Vets last, they charged me £320 for blood tests which showed my cat had diabetes and also had potassium deficiency. Purely as a result of the steroids. Bicester Vets never shared the full lab results. Just their interpretation of them. [The full results were also not shared with my new vet. Which is not as transparent as it should have been]. So my cat may have been on the low end of diabetic or not. They never disclosed that. Anyway they wanted to pump my cat full of diabetes drugs to make up for their initial failed allergy assessment and also their refusal to consider broader environmental factors with me (again- i mentioned plastic at least 4 times and was brushed off). My cat is now registered with Pets at Home. Today he had blood and thyroid tests done which cost me £45 (versus £320 with Bicester vets). Pets at Home also acknowledged plastic could have well caused his allergies in some circumstances. My cat has had no steroids for over a month and his skin is completely clear. The only difference? I removed plastic from his environment. My message to Bicester Vets- listen to pet owners, don't overcharge, be transparent and share full results (not just your own alarming version of them), do not send alarming emails to pet owners using what feels like emotional blackmail and don't over medicate without considering environmental factors.

I can't thank you guys enough for all your help, especially with our senior cat Caramel who's had an array of health issues this year, with treatment and care we were able to have him with us for some more time. Most caring team❤️ a special thanks to Rachel who did all of his treatments and went above and beyond with care and compassion, to the vets who came in for emergency appointments at all ours in the night and to Katy who was so caring with us all in his final moments❤️❤️

Poppy had her check up and medication review with Tom today. Not only is he professional, but also friendly and pleasant to talk to, he was very good with my dog. Extremely thorough. We discussed everything about the current situation as well as potential issues that may arise in future. Would recommend Bicester Vets and Tom. A photo of Poppy.

We moved across from Hart Vets for our two whippets and so far it’s been a lovely experience. Friendly staff who fuss the animals, caring vets who don’t rush or make you feel like you’re an annoyance, reasonable open pricing and they can’t do enough to help with queries. There is also help available without needing a consultation unless it’s necessary. Very pleased we made the move over to a non-corporate vet practice, it feels worlds apart. Thanks for all your hard work those at Bicester Vets! Wendy, Paul (Sweeney & Elsie 🐾).

Very good service, friendly and caring vets. Bicester vets usually have appointments available, and all the staff there are clearly animal lovers! Our dog Willow recently had to have a weekend stay, and even though she was very grumpy, the staff looked after her wonderfully. Even our cat Arty doesn't mind going there! I highly recommend Bicester Vets.

I would like to thank the staff from the receptionist, the vet and the nurses , I had to rush my dog chewie After being hit in the head by a bicycle yesterday afternoon the receptionist was brilliant. She made me feel reassured as she took all the details, sorry I can’t remember the names I saw the vet within 10 minutes. He had a thorough check up and was kept in for observations until 830 that evening. I cannot think the Vets and the nurses who looked after chewie , I was able to pick him up that evening, once again thank you so much. You were all incredible…
